How Hypnotherapy Can Alleviate Anxiety
As a hypnotist who regularly provides hypnotherapy for anxiety relief, I understand anxiety on a level that most do not. For example, realize where it comes from, why we need it to survive, and most importantly how to remove it.
When clients come to my office seeking hypnotherapy services for anxiety relief, I often provide them with a thorough education explaining why they feel the way they do. It is through this education that the path towards living a life anxiety free begins.
Anxiety is somewhat of an epidemic in the United States, as its reported that Anxiety is the most common form of mental illness effecting 18 million of US citizens:

Most strategies that are typically taught to manage anxiety usually have little to zero effect with regards to either lessening the negative sensation or removing anxiety all together. As a hypnotist who regularly provides his clients hypnotherapy for anxiety relief, it is my job to inform and explain to clients why these strategies will always render unsuccessful.
Using hypnotherapy for anxiety cessation allows clients to change and shift their physical responses at both the unconscious and subconscious level. In the following text I will explain the 4 parts to the mind, how those 4 parts play a role in anxiety, and provide new solutions allowing for anxiety to be removed instantly.
If you have ever struggled with anxiety, first let me say I am sorry. Having said that, I can promise you there is a way out. You no longer have to be gripped by the emotional affliction.
Please read on.
The Four Parts Of Your Mind
As someone who provides hypnotherapy for anxiety relief, I have a deeper understanding about how the mind works and how it effects not only anxiety, but all emotional responses.
The first part of your mind I would like to discuss is your unconscious mind. Your unconscious mind is responsible for your bodies physical functionings. Your unconscious mind manages all those operations of your body that you don’t have to think about. Metabolism, heart rate, digestion are a few examples. The unconscious mind is also responsible for creating the physical sensations derived from emotions. These physical sensations are what we call “feelings”.
The next part of your mind is the subconscious mind, this is where identity is stored. The subconscious mind holds your beliefs, emotions, habits, behaviors, and long term memories. If clients seeking hypnotherapy for anxiety relief hold the belief “I look foolish” in their subconscious mind, the unconscious mind will then trigger feelings of anxiety in certain situations such as public speaking or a social gathering. Beliefs that are held in the subconscious determine the “feelings” derived on the unconscious level.
Moving along the third part of your mind is the conscious mind. The conscious mind can be referred to as the “now” part of your mind. The conscious mind makes up only about 5% of your minds functioning. The CM is responsible for short term memory, rationalities, analytical problem solving, and willpower.
Client seeking hypnotherapy for anxiety relief attempt to remove and manage their anxiety at the conscious level. These attempts ultimately fall short. An example of attempting to manage anxiety at the conscious level would be stating consciously “I’m going to give a great presentation and everybody will love it”, meanwhile the belief in the subconscious remains “I look foolish” while the unconscious mind continues to produce panic and anxiety.
The last part of your mind is whats known as the critical factor. The critical factor can be viewed as the guardian of the gate so to speak. The critical factor guards the subconscious identity. Beliefs, habits, personality, emotions, and behaviors that are stored in the subconscious are in a sense protected by the critical factor.
The positive aspect to the critical factor is that your mind retains a clear and concise identity day in and day out, which in a real sense creates stability. If everything in the subconscious was constantly shifting your life would be chaotic. Imagine if you preferred jazz one day and opera the next. Believed in Jesus today and became atheist tomorrow. Without a protected and stable personality and identity life would be unlivable. Thank you critical factor!
However, the problem for clients seeking hypnotherapy for anxiety relief is that there are negative beliefs stored in the subconscious that are protected by the critical factor causing stress and panic.
When a client says consciously “I am safe and people like me” the critical factor will block that information from getting into the subconscious mind if it does not match beliefs stored in the subconscious. This is why simply saying out loud positive mantras and affirmations before a presentation will likely do very little to remove anxiety.
The subconscious holds the negative beliefs that are guarded by the critical factor, which are then causing the unconscious mind to signal feelings of anxiety and panic.
Insert Hypnosis
The government defines hypnosis as simply: The bypass of the critical factor allowing the insertion of selective and appropriate thinking.
What makes hypnotherapy for anxiety removal so effective? Hypnosis allows for the bypass of the critical factor.
Hypnotists are trained to use simple and safe techniques allowing the temporary removal of the critical factor that guards against the subconscious. Once the critical factor is removed, deep healing work can be accomplished at the subconscious level.
Beliefs can be changed, emotional responses upgraded (or downgraded), and habits improved!
Instead of believing the anxiety producing presentation is “something I have to do and will make me look foolish” it can be looked at “as an amazing opportunity allowing me to share my value with others!”
Anxiety removed!
If one believes at the subconscious level “people are dangerous and will ultimately turn on me” the hypnotist can insert “I am safe and can handle myself in any situation”.
Hypnotic Induction > Critical factor removed > insertion of selective and appropriate thinking at the subconscious level > unconscious relaxes.
Hypnosis Is Safe & Natural
At this point many may be asking “What if the hypnotist gives me beliefs that will change me in a way that I don’t want?”
If the hypnotist were to say during the hypnotic session “from this point forward you will now hate short people and have the urge to spit whenever you are around them” this will not be accepted into the subconscious as it is not appropriate for the clients needs. In other words, they do not want this!
Hypnosis is a safe and natural process that can only effect clients in positive ways that fit their needs.
Do We Need Anxiety?
There may be no greater experts on all things anxiety than those that provide hypnotherapy for anxiety relief.
As a hypnotist who provides hypnotherapy for anxiety relief, I understand what some may not with regard to the terrorizing emotion of anxiety. The simple fact is…
Humans need anxiety. Thats right! We actually need anxiety responses in our body.
At this point you may find yourself disagreeing, or wondering why I would administer hypnotherapy for anxiety relief when I believe that humans need it.
You see, anxiety is your bodies (unconscious) natural response to ensure survival. Anxiety is the reason that the human race is still here and thriving on this planet.
Anxiety is hard wired in us to alert us of danger(s). Those that felt anxious avoided the saber tooth tigers and were able to pass on their genes. In a sense, those anxious and fearful responses ensure the survival of our species. After all, it is far better to be anxious than dead.
While we may not battle with tigers in our modern era, anxiety is still useful for avoiding dangerous circumstances.
If you were alone in your house at night and heard someone trying to break in, your anxiety would likely cause you to take actions to protect yourself.
While we may need it for survival situations, the problem for most people is that they experience a sense of danger at the unconscious feeling level when zero danger is actually pleasant. Meaning, normal everyday life circumstances are disrupted as the anxiety presents itself regularly greatly diminishing the quality of ones life.
Anxiety Leads To Depression
As we have learned, a common strategy to deal with anxiety for most is by way of the conscious mind. This often leads to failure, frustration, and more anxiety.
However, being a hypnotist who provides hypnotherapy for anxiety relief I understand that many clients attempt to use the power of the subconscious mind to treat their anxiety without realizing it. The problem is they use the subconscious mind incorrectly, and when this happens the natural result is depression.
Let me explain.
Most come up with errant ways to manage anxieties. Habits and behaviors are formed in an attempt to manage those uncomfortable panicky feelings. For example, when the anxious feelings become overwhelming they may choose to drink alcohol to cope. Anxiety leads people to do drugs or eat.
When this action is repeated long enough, it becomes stored in the subconscious as an engrained habit. This newfound coping mechanism and habit not only does little to remove anxious feelings, but also creates a plethora of dipterous occurrences in ones life.
Depression is the your bodies way of telling you that whatever is happening is just simply not working, and it’s time to take a break.
If one is experiencing anxiety, and then coping with the habit of drugs or alcohol, life will sure go off the rails in a hurry. Loss of health, money, and quality relationships. The only thing that remains in ones life is the anxiety that caused the spiral in the first place.
Initial Sensitizing Event
A familiar example is a young happy childhood who one day is picked on and bullied on the playground. Before this ISE, the child was most likely at ease around others, fully expressive feeling completely comfortable to simply just “be”.
Once the traumatic emotional or physical altercation on the playground is experienced, the subconscious can take on the belief “People are dangerous and may attack me” (as an example).
Imagine for a second the disastrous consequence of obtaining such a belief in the database of the subconscious. Constant anxiety while around others, leading to unfavorable habits and behaviors, turning to depression is most likely the result.
Learned Anxieties
When providing hypnotherapy for anxiety relief, I also encounter clients quite often that have learned their anxieties from others. Meaning, the anxiety they experience is actually not even theres! Imagine that!
When clients are young, their parents or caregivers teach them about the world. Whats right, whats wrong, and also what is dangerous and requires an anxiety response.
Imagine a child sitting in the backseat while her mother drives. Her mother is very fearful of driving especially on the highway. Each and every time that child is in the backseat she witnesses her mother filled with anxiety as a result of driving and other drivers.
That anxiety filled response is actually picked up and absorbed by the subconscious of the child.
“Driving is dangerous and must be avoided at all costs” can be the belief inserted at the subconscious level for the youngster. This can cause a lifetime of panic attacks and avoidance with regard to driving for a lifetime.
Even if the child had never been in one accident, her body will respond as if it has been in numerous catastrophes behind the wheel.
Hypnosis Gets To The Root
The reason hypnotherapy for anxiety relief is the single greatest strategy one can undergo to simply rid themselves of those unpleasant anxious feelings is because hypnotherapy provides healing at the deepest levels. Hypnotherapy for anxiety relief creates the shift at the subconscious level where the problems arose.
Through the removal of the critical factor, hypnosis allows the wise adult to go back to those younger days and simply gain new perspectives and accept new belief systems.
The belief “people are dangerous and may attack me” can be shifted to “sometimes children pick on others out of insecurity and I can always handle myself”.
“Driving is deadly and requires panic” can turn into “I take the necessary precautions and drive as safe as I can. I follow the rules of the road and always arrive safely”. Also my simply alerting the subconscious that those anxieties were picked up and absorbed causes them to shift almost immediately.
Hypnosis also allows an immediate shift in action whenever anxiety is felt. Instead of turning to booze or negative behaviors, the client can simply implant new strategies for coping directly into the subconscious. Healthy strategies that create a far better existence.
Hypnotherapy for anxiety relief not only causes the removal of anxiety, but creates a healthier lifestyle filled with sturdiness, satisfaction and ease.
Conclusion
The main goal of your mind is to keep you safe, alert, and alive. From the conscious to the subconscious, your continued existence is of number one importance. Anxiety is the representation of that importanc
However, many moments of anxiety are simply not needed.
